Visit us anytime at https://www.asbestosclaims.law/. The first asbestos lawsuits were filed between 1929 and 1933, but they were ALL settled confidentially before trial.
(You can check out PART 4 of our series for more on those here: https://youtu.be/-bHwTPgEFDg ).
The first "real" lawsuit that actually went to trial wasn't filed until 1966 when Texas attorney Ward Stephenson filed on behalf of an insulator named Claude Toimplait.
Toimplait had developed asbestosis after a career working with asbestos insulation made by a number of companies.
Ward Stephenson has become the father of modern asbestos litigation, which is why we named our massive asbestos database WARD in honor of his memory:

These "Asbestos Fragments" (we can enjoy puns even when things are serious) are quick cuts from our much longer, multi-part Asbestos 101 series, which explores everything you could ever need to know about asbestos, from the science to the tragedy to the laws in place today.
Asbestos law is literally ALL we do. If you've been injured by asbestos or know someone who is, you're in the right place. If you just want to learn about asbestos, you're also in the right place.
