🎥 Dive into the history of Fuller-Austin Insulation Company with AC.Law in this eye-opening video on asbestos trusts. Founded in Houston in the mid-1940s, Fuller-Austin thrived as an insulation business, installing asbestos-containing materials in refineries, factories, and more.
Asbestos exposure was rampant among insulators, who worked at various job sites each year, increasing their risk. Even as a distributor, Fuller-Austin played a part in raising exposure levels for workers on sites where asbestos products were delivered.
In 1974, the company was acquired by DynCorp, a military contractor, and allegedly stopped using asbestos in its products. However, Fuller-Austin continued asbestos abatement work until around 1986.
The repercussions of asbestos injury litigation led Fuller-Austin to file for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy in 1998, resulting in the establishment of an Asbestos Trust later that year. Since its inception, over 54,000 claims have been filed, with the Trust paying out more than $310 million in compensation.
